Blackberry BBQ Sauce

Blackberry BBQ Sauce

Maybe we’re a tad ambitious but with the weather warming up and Memorial Day in the offing, we’re thinking all things BBQ!  And what better way to enhance the flavor of your grilling efforts than with a home-made BBQ sauce?

While it might be a little early here in New York to go pick your own blackberries, fresh ones are already available at your local fruit market. Blackberries are high in Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Manganese and offer many health benefits.

Blackberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

A rich and slightly sweet BBQ sauce with a lot of Blackberries

2 cups fresh blackberries

1 cup chicken stock

½ cup ketchup

¼ cup brown sugar

2 table spoons apple cider vineger

Juice from ½ lemon

2 teaspoons chili powder

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon dried mustard

Pinch of salt

In a 4 quart sauce pan, bring chicken stock and blackberries to a boil, lower heat and simmer till blackberries break down

Press thru a mesh strainer and mash to remove seeds.

Add sauce back into pot and add remaining ingredients and simmer till thickened.

During the past months, we have had the pleasure of catering for many of our front line heroes, from the hospitals, to 911 dispatchers to the National Guard. We say " Thank you to all of them!".

Now that NYC is re-opening, we can't wait to cater for you. Meals are either packaged in our Sale & Pepe Red reusable insulated bags or white disposable bags, with everything in individual containers as well as individually packaged cutlery, and sanitary wipes sent with every meal.

We have always required our staff to wear gloves and hats, but now masks are worn and temperatures are taken and surfaces are sanitized throughout the day.

Stay safe!
